As I write this, hundred of zombies are limping and lurching all over the West Bank, bands are playing, folks are partaking in beverages of some kind, and lots of other scary fun. It’s a freakshow on an epic scale. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, you must have missed yesterday’s post on the famous Minneapolis Zombie Pub Crawl.

The Zombie Pub Crawl isn’t the only game in town, however.

Valleyscare is happening at Valleyfair Amusement Park throughout the month of October, mostly on weekends. The hours between now and Halloween are Saturdays from noon to midnight, Sundays from 6 to 11pm, and Fridays from 7pm to midnight. The only exception to these hours are Wednesday and Thursday (the 20th and 21st), the park is open from 7pm to midnight as well.

For families, Pumpkin Hollow is a kid-friendly, scare-free feature for little ghosts and goblins with its Trick-or-Treat area. This interactive family fun area is located in Half Pint Park, and includes a Trick-or-Treat Trail, music from the delightful Boogiemonsters band and much more.

There’s lots of scares, of course, for grown-ups and the big kids throughout the park as well. Indoor mazes and spook houses abound, such as Chateau du Damné, a vampire-infested Renaissance castle, the posse of insane clowns at CarnEvil, the Mangler Asylum, where Dr. Mangler performed twisted experiments on the residents and now brings your darkest fears and worst phobias to life before your eyes, and finally, Mr. Cleaver’s Bloodshed, where you’ll witness a gruesome massacre at the hands of maniacal plant workers and murderous butchers.

Be sure not to miss Blood Creek Cemetery, where the dead come to life and walk among us. Also check out Carnage at Crimson Isle, where dead pirates will do anything to guard their treasure, and Hellside Farm, where residents nightly look for new victims to harvest.

Halloween-themed stage shows will also be taking place on the various stages in the park, and many of the rides will be open. Make sure if you dress in costume that you don’t have loose clothing, wigs, masks or other hazards if you plan on riding any of the rides. Otherwise you’re encouraged to get as creative as possible with your costumes.

You can buy your tickets right on the website below. For an additional charge, the Fright Fest buffet is available, serving up delicious spicy Devil’s Spit Ribs, BBQ Rib Tips, Sweet Chili-glazed Chicken, Roasted Corn, Mac n’ Cheese and more.
